What you didn't know about the strings of the piano

A piano keyboard has 88 keys. The number of strings depends on the model of the piano, but it is usually around 230 strings.

For the higher pitched notes like tenor and treble notes, there are three strings for each key. On the other hand, the number of strings for lower pitched notes like bass notes, decreases to two, and then to one as you approach the lowest bass notes.

Additionally, the strings become shorter in length from low-pitched notes to the high notes. The higher the pitch of the note, the thinner the string.

Overall, the three strings for middle pitch and high pitch notes are not only intended to increase the volume during play, but also enrich the quality of the sound.
